My Dream Dressing Room

I love make up and clothes. Fact. Do I have enough space for them? No. An email I got earlier this week got me thinking about how I would design my own dream dressing room if I didn’t have a budget. I was sent a link to a US furniture brand with some amazingly designed furniture which I would totally purchase if I had the money. So here is how my dream dressing room would look.

For the wallpaper I would have shimmery turquoise paper with gold flecks in it on the main feature wall with the other walls being a light grey/white shade. I’d match this to a golden/brass coloured chandelier for lighting as well as some white tea light holders for that extra cosy feel.

For my dressing table I would have the desk shown below, putting some cute storage boxes in the hutches and putting a marble sticker sheet over the dark wood to keep the lighter theme running, or maybe even just paint it the same shade as white as the dresser that I would use for storage. On top of the dresser I would have a tealight holder and the Hurricane vase with some light pink Lillies in, as well as having a tealight and the glass cylinder on the desk to hold my make up brushes. I really loved the design of the chair, especially with the darker edges and legs.

I’d also have a coffee table and sofa to chill on as well as for my friends to sit on when we’re getting ready for a night out. I’d put the embroidered pillows on the sofa to keep it comfy as well as another Hurricane vase on the table for some more flowers. I’d have the mirror in the corner by the dresser so I can see what my outfits are like, and of course I’d have a mirror with lights around the edge on my desk/make up table.

2017 Goals

So with 2016 finally over, I’m hoping that 2017 is going to be a better year and a time where I can really start to get my life together and do what makes me happy. I’m going to be honest, my 2017 hasn’t started on the best note in some ways but I’m determined to get through the challenges that these are presenting me and have a good year. One of my main aims this year is to save money and just do what I want to do. I’m lucky enough to get to start this year off being flown out to Spain to do a photoshoot, before going to Italy to go snowboarding in March. In between that I have my new job which I am loving and getting to finish my studies before either starting new studies in a new subject or getting my first full time job. Either way which ever one happens I feel will happen for a reason, if I get to study my chosen course then it will allow me to meet new people, progress my skills and get a good job after, if not I’m going to get a strong portfolio of work together and find a full time job. The plus side to a full time job is not only having more money, but getting to be an adult and start saving for moving out. What ever happens I am happy with so we will see.

I also want to start putting more content on my blog so I have a lot of posts planned and I am aiming on dedicating more time to writing it and putting up more interesting and original content. A re-design may also happen at some point.

I am hoping this year will be a good year to start the next chapter of my life and progress onto moving out with my boyfriend at some point with in the next few years. I’m aiming on stepping up my training for my cycling to start placing higher in races, as well as establishing my own fashion style and feeling confident when wearing it. My blogs content is going to be different in the sense that as much of a make up/fashion blog it is, I am also going to update it with more bits of my life, ride and race updates, if something exciting happens updates as well as more lifestyle bits.

Heres to a good 2017!

2017 Goals

Winter Essentials

With winter already hitting hard here with ice everywhere and freezing cold winds, theres a few essentials that everyone should have on them in these colder months.

1. Lip Balm

You’re going to need a lip balm to avoid horrible chapped lips that everyone gets in the winter time, I usually have two, one in my make up bag that I put on every morning & evening, as well as one in my handbag for on the go

2. Dark Lipstick

Lipstick is another must for me and at the moment I am loving matte colours, and I know this isn’t an extremely dark shade but its my favourite at the moment for every day use and its MACsย Persistence

3. Thick Scarf

One of the things that keeps me going during the winter is a thick scarf. I personally really like the hoop ones that are a big circle you twist over your head (I’m not explaining this too well) but I find their perfect for burying my face and hands in when its pretty cold

4. Emergency Coffee Money

I try to make sure that there is at least a fiver in my bag at all times for emergency money incase I need food or to get the bus somewhere, but in the winter it turns into emergency coffee money for those times you walk past a coffee shop & just think how good a warm coffee would be right at that moment

5. Thick Winter Coats

Thick winter coats are a must everywhere, however this year I am loving the Duster coats that you can get in pretty much any clothing store. I feel they go so well with pretty much any outfit as well as being able to look casual as well as smart when needed

6. Turtle Neck

I love turtle necks and impulsively buy them whenever I see one, wether its a top, jumper, dress or body suit, I just love them. Their one of my fashion staples because you can match them with anything, skirts, jeans and for those lazy days, leggins. I have a big oversized knitted jumper thats turtle neck and its perfect for cold morning and early starts

7. Dark Nail Varnish

What is winter with out the dark nail varnish? Or even the bright red nail varnish when it gets closer to Christmas? I love how nail varnish can complete a look so I personally stick to black, burgundy, beige, greys and reds in the winter time because they go with pretty much any outfit

Things to do by 2017

With only a month and a bit left until 2017, its getting to that time of year where people start thinking of how to better themselves and start christmas shopping. So I since I’m never usually one for doing that (apart from buying xmas presents), I thought I’d make a list of things to do before 2017.

The first thing I want to do is clean out my room. I want to go through all my clothes, shoes, college books, everything and just sort out what I want and what I dont, because I’m reaching the point that I’m seriously running out of room and my floors becoming an extended wardrobe. I then want to sift through all that and give away what I can to charity shops and throw away the rest.

The second thing is I want to sort my eating habits. I have a really bad case of IBS to the point my doctors have me on various medications to try help ease and control it. I’ve been told to follow the FODMAP diet religiously but I haven’t had a chance yet. The down side of still living at home is my dad wont let me do the weekly shop, so I have no control over what is brought. I want to start making weekly meal plans and actually making sure that I’m eating clean and sticking to the diet.

The third thing is I want to start taking more pictures because I want to, not because its for my college project. I want to feel the love for photography that I always had before I started this course. This course seems to have sucked my love for photography away a bit and I want to fight to regain that.

The fourth thing is I want to do blogmas. I want to try and put up a blog post every day in December, through to Christmas. Now for me that’s going to be tough as I have a busy work and uni schedule, but I promise that I’m going to try, even if I just write a bit of a ramble about the day.

The fifth and final thing I want to do isย get my conch pierced. For ages I’ve been admiring other peoples conch piercings online, especially with the ring, I think it looks super cute. However I just haven’t braved it and got it done yet. Now that my rook piercing is pretty much healed, I want to go get my conch done. It was a toss up between tragus and conch, but I just knew that either way I was going to get my conch done eventually so I decided to get that first.

I recently got my Urban Decay Illuminated high lighter a new eyeliner that I will be reviewing for you guys in a few days once I’ve had a chance to try them out.

Late Night Rambles

So its about half ten and I have loads of energy and I’m totally excited over nothing. I’ve been up since half six this morning and spent a whole day stressing at college, yet I have enough energy to willingly go for a sprint. My dog is also totally judging my dance moves to Beyonce right now as well.

Today I’ve had a lot of time to thing about the future and where I’m hoping next year will go, because to be totally honest, this years been shit for a majority of us. Next year I am viewing as the start to my adult life. I’m nineteen and living at home with my parents and until the beginning of this year I had no idea where my life was going. I’d had a shitty end to 2015 and 2016 started looking up until a few months ago. Either way in 2017 I have a lot of ideas. I’ve applied for new jobs because I want to get out the bike trade and into something more stable, and I’ve also applied for university to study at St Georges University in Tooting, or Kings College London or Brunel – we’ll see which if any accepts me. Either way, I feel what ever happens with uni will happen for a reason, I’ll either go study and work my butt off for three years potentially five if I gain a masters, or I’ll go into full time work and work my way up through experience. Either way what ever happens, happens for a reason.

Apart from uni I’m also going to quit karate and try out running. I wanted to try running a few years back but I was a lot more shy then and it clashed with karate, and at that time I was very much into karate. However its recently been causing me more stress than its worth so after my national grading to get my brown belt in two weeks, I’m gonna take a break and give something else a try. Running will also help out with my cycling as well which is a plus. I’m so excited about trying it out that I’ve been googling outfits and I’m so excited I can’t actually contain my excitement.

I’m also going to brave it and follow my fashion and make up instinct. I know the kind of fashion that I like and I know my style, I’m just not confident wearing my style. I’ve been trying to build up to it, but I always feel too over dressed if ya get what I mean? So next year I’m going to try and get more confident with myself and how I look.

Either way next year I am hoping is going to be a good year for me and I’m hoping to make the most of it. I know its a bit early, but I genuinely have so much energy right now I had to get some of it out, and hey, thats what a blogs for right? Either way there will be an eye look posted soon with my new Tarte eyeshadow palette!!

Kingston Day Out

With yesterday being my last Thursday before I go back to college and won’t be able to spend them with my boyfriend for a while, we decided to make a day of it and venture out to Kingston. Although the main reason we chose Kingston was because I had an old Bentalls voucher that needed spending so what better opportunity to go buy some make up!

We didn’t get into Kingston until about two in the afternoon and upon getting a bit lost in Bentalls (we went up some stairs rather than down) we discovered a Krispy Kreme where we got some doughnuts, before finally finding the MAC & other make up stands. I knew I wanted to get a few more MAC lipsticks and brought myself Captive & Persistence (reviews coming soon dont worry) as well as buying a new foundation which my boyfriend got me which was the Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation (review coming on this too).

After dragging my boyfriend around the make up section for ages and detouring into shoes, homeware & handbags, we made it out onto the high street for some lunch. We dont usually go to Kingston unless its for a night out so it was a bit odd everything being open, but it gave us plenty to look at whilst finding some food to eat. We eventually came across a small cafe called Glutopia which turned out to be a gluten free cafe. I have some stomach problems which usually leave me with crippling stomach aches or feeling sick and tired, causing me to sleep a lot. We thought we’d give it a go and in true me style I forgot to take my tablets that I have to take before meals to reduce stomach acid, however the food didn’t affect me as bad as most other foods do. We tried one of their cupcakes, which was covered in icing with a strawberry for some nice decoration. The cake tasted really nice however it was a little bit dry but tasty all the same!

Satisfied with our food and looking around a few more shops, we decided to head back to mine to chill before I had to take my dog to dog training classes. So overall a good day!
