Charlotte Tilbury Review

Untitled Design (3)

When I went to London with my friend, we went straight into Selfridges. It was like heaven. I’ve never been to Selfridges before and I order a lot of my make up online so walking into there where there was so much good looking make up was amazing! I went to all the stalls and had an idea of some products that I wanted to buy and held myself back from buying some products (the Victoria Beckham highlighter is high up on my Christmas list just saying). However I’ve been eyeing Charlotte Tilbury products for a few years but just never got round to buying anything from her, but my friend Arabella has her sculpt palette and when we saw it at her stand, I brought it. The lady who served us also gave us sixteen foundation samples to share between us as well which was pretty cool of her to do.

I’ve been using this everyday since I got it and I have to admit. Its amazing. If you want a subtle contour this is 100% the one for you. When I go to uni I don’t want to be wearing a really bold contour and highlight because thats a bit OTT for uni. But this is perfect, the bronze is subtle but you can see the difference when its on, it blends really easily and is really pigmented. The highlight, although its gold and I’ve never used a gold highlight before, is really nice. Its not a harsh highlight so if you want it a bit more blinding you have to really build it up, but it looks super gorgeous on the skin and adds a really natural looking glow. I want to try this with an Iconic London liquid highlighter, but as mines in the pink shade I need to repurchase the golden one (as long as its not too dark for me as I’m fairly pale). This is 100% going to be my go to for university and its in a really pretty packaging thats pretty sturdy and thin at the same time. 100% reccomend.

My New YouTube Channel

I’ve finally manned up and done something I’ve been wanting to do for ages. I’ve started a Vlog YouTube channel. I’ve tried countless times to make a channel with weekly videos, however I just don’t have the time to sit down and plan, film and edit and video that’s going to be as good as I want it to be, so this way I can do that.

I’ll be uploading weekly vlogs (my life isn’t interesting enough for daily vlogs, especially since I’m going to uni in September). So I’ll be filming through out the week and putting it into one weekly video that will be uploaded every Sunday. The perks to this is that if I then get a video idea, some extra time or a product to review or something to haul, I can then do a sit down video. I’ve been wanting to do YouTube for nearly five years now and just haven’t built up the courage to do it, and by the time I did, I didn’t have enough time to dedicate to it. So heres to another chance. Please subscribe to my channel, I should have my first video up this week!

Much love,

Hazel

My Dream Dressing Room

I love make up and clothes. Fact. Do I have enough space for them? No. An email I got earlier this week got me thinking about how I would design my own dream dressing room if I didn’t have a budget. I was sent a link to a US furniture brand with some amazingly designed furniture which I would totally purchase if I had the money. So here is how my dream dressing room would look.

For the wallpaper I would have shimmery turquoise paper with gold flecks in it on the main feature wall with the other walls being a light grey/white shade. I’d match this to a golden/brass coloured chandelier for lighting as well as some white tea light holders for that extra cosy feel.

For my dressing table I would have the desk shown below, putting some cute storage boxes in the hutches and putting a marble sticker sheet over the dark wood to keep the lighter theme running, or maybe even just paint it the same shade as white as the dresser that I would use for storage. On top of the dresser I would have a tealight holder and the Hurricane vase with some light pink Lillies in, as well as having a tealight and the glass cylinder on the desk to hold my make up brushes. I really loved the design of the chair, especially with the darker edges and legs.

I’d also have a coffee table and sofa to chill on as well as for my friends to sit on when we’re getting ready for a night out. I’d put the embroidered pillows on the sofa to keep it comfy as well as another Hurricane vase on the table for some more flowers. I’d have the mirror in the corner by the dresser so I can see what my outfits are like, and of course I’d have a mirror with lights around the edge on my desk/make up table.

Iconic London Illuminator

I am totally obsessed with a good highlight and after getting the Jeffree Star highlighter I wasn’t sure I’d find something better because its my favourite highlighter ever!! Then I found the Iconic London Illuminator and my gosh the glow is real… I researched into a bit because its Β£29.99 and to be totally honest I took money out of my savings to buy it so I wanted to be sure I wasn’t wasting my money.

IMG_0376This highlight blew my expectations like seriously… if you love a bright glow… this is the one for you. The pigmentation is insane so I usually do three three small drops along my
cheek bone and blend it out with a beauty blender, and honestly that is all you need. Its so bright and glowy and I tend to set it with my Jeffree Star highlighter, but honestly I dont even think you need to set it, I just like being a bit extra with my highlight.

It comes in a small glass pot with a dropper and I can tell that this is going to last me aaaaages. This is one product that I would 100% recommend buying and I’mΒ hoping to try some more of their products soon!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz vs Dip Brown Pomade

I’ve been wanting to get hold of some Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products for a while and especially since getting the eyeshadow palette, I just needed one. I’d seen everyone raving about the dip brown pomade on YouTube and other blogs for ages but wasn’t sure if that was the one for me, especially when I saw the brow wiz. I decided that to really decide which one is for me, I’d have to buy both.

Turns out they were both for me but in different ways. The brow wiz works amazingly for really effortless natural brows, I find this is my go too for if I have work or just running to the shops quickly but don’t want to look like I’ve just rolled out of bed, even though I most probably have. However I don’t think this would be the best if you want defined brows, the product isn’t very pigmented and you cant really outline your brows well because the pencil drags your skin and the line goes everywhere. If you just want to roughly fill in your brows this is definitely perfect.

The dip brow pomade I ordered in the same shade as the brow wiz because that colour matched me well, however the dip brow seems to be slightly darker, however that could have been because I wasn’t expecting the product to be as soft or as pigmented as it is and put way too much on the first time I used it. I feel this will be my go to more for if I’m going out somewhere as its more of a glam, defined brow. I haven’t had too much of a chance to play around with it and try different things like making it a natural look, but I can tell once I get a bit more used to handling the product it will be amazing.

Along with the two eyebrow products I also purchased the Anastasia eyebrow brush. This has become my favourite brush of all time, its so precise and makes the product go on so smoothly, and the little spoolie comb bit at the end is super good at blending out and spreading the product a bit more. A definite recommend.

My First Birchbox Review

I’ve seen a lot of people who use subscriptions to online websites that send you make up samples but I’ve never really decided if it was worth it or not. Recently I decided to give it a go and signed up to Birchbox and recently got my first order through.

The box that I got with all the make up is such a nice box, its sturdy and really pretty, perfect size to store make up so I am going to be keeping hold of these boxes to put my make up into because I think they will stack really nicely as well and dont take up too much space.

The amount that you get in this box is definitely worth the Β£10, I got a full sized Spectrum C06 brush in rose gold, a Show Premiere finishing spray, a Smith & Cult lipgloss in the shade Diary of a Beauty Junkie, Beaver daily moisturising conditioning spray and an eyeshadow trio from Pop beauty called Champagne Mocha. As well as these I also got a Keeome hydration therapy mask which I am so excited to use!

So far I’ve only used the lipgloss which was a nice neutral light brown shade. The colour isn’t very vibrant but is very glossy, its also a tiny bit sticky but not to the point its horrible to wear, its a very thick lipgloss but feels really moisturising on your lips.

As well as these I also got a 25% off discount voucher for Papier which I am going to use to buy some notebooks for university in September. I think this box is totally worth the money and I’m so glad that I subscribed!

Current Skin Care Routine

Since my last skin care routine post I have changed the products that I have been using and started to see a really good change in my skin. I’ve been planning this post for a while but I wanted to make sure I had a strong opinion of these products before I reviewed them and updated my routine.Β img_3488

I now use The Body Shop tea tree face wash, toner and scrub as well as theΒ charcoal face mask. I found these are really nice products that don’t feel harsh on your skin and I love that the scrub can also be used as a face mask which you only leave on for five minutes, perfect for a quick night mask on a busy evening if you don’t have time every night to put a fifteen minute face mask on.

I usually start by taking my make up off with a make up wipe or a cleansing wipe, before using the face wash to remove any remaining make up and dirt. I then use the scrub and depending on my mood, I’ll either leave it on for five minutes then scrub it off or I’ll just scrub my face and wash it off. After this I pat my face dry with a towel and use a cotton pad to apply the toner. For a moisturiser I use the Simple oil balancing moisturiser.

This skin routine has currently worked wonders for me and my skin has cleared up amazingly. I do this every night, sometimes using the charcoal mask in place of the scrub.
